The Pickleball Courts. Pickleball is the fastest growing sport in the United States. Invented in 1965 by Joel Pritchard and friends, Pickleball was designed to accommodate players of all ages and athletic abilities. Joel’s young children were involved in developing the game. Today there are professional Pickleball leagues with investors which include Tom Brady, Patrick Mahomes, Naomi Osaka and Lebron James. Mary An and I have been learning the game. We play three or four mornings a week.

We met the Swiss Family Vossberg in Wickenburg, AZ. Turns out they were also headed to the Palm Springs area for Christmas. We connected with them for a hike and a weekend visit in Palm Springs.

Going international with the ‘Wisdom of Sy’. We gifted our friend Sy Montgomery’s book Becoming A Good Creature to our young friends from Switzerland. Arielle, all of three years old, insisted on reading the book to me. We gave mom and dad Sy’s classic, The Good Good Pig. Our Swiss friends are enjoying both reads.

Pasqual is an accomplished techie who quit his job in Zurich to travel to the U.S. with his family so that Ann Christine could finish her PhD research in Astrophysics at Long Beach State University. Ann Christine finished. She has her doctorate. They stayed to live the RV life with no real endgame (sounds familiar). They are really incredible. Neither had ever driven a pickup nor had they pulled a trailer. They arranged their purchases online, sight unseen, flew to the U.S. and became full time RV campers. Anyone who has pulled a forty foot trailer behind a pickup can tell you it takes practice…Pasqual and Ann Christine dove right in and thrived.
