Hueco Tanks…12 February 2022

The first of our kind arrived at Hueco Tanks in 7978 BC, I arrived in the Autumn of 1976. The early members of our race came for the perennial supply of water. I came for…

Peacefully set in West Texas, thirty miles east of El Paso, Hueco Tanks consists of three ‘mountains’, more like three piles of igneous boulders rife with caves and overhangs, a ‘bouldering’ paradise and a sacred stop for the indigenous peoples of West Texas with the largest concentration of Native American pictographs anywhere in the United States.

The Vinegaroon, a Tlaloc and the Comanche Canyon reservoir.

Four of the nine ‘Masks’ in Cave Kiva, a most sacred and inspiring site. ‘Starry Eyed Man’, the most photographed of the Hueco Tanks pictographs.

“May your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous leading to the most amazing view.” (EA)
