Crater Lake – – 9 June 2023

The deepest lake in the United States, ninth deepest in the world, Crater Lake is stunning. Created 7,700 years ago when a volcanic eruption sent the mountain top flying, forming a deep Caldera. The water in Crater Lake is as pure as pure can be and crystal clear. The 9.9 trillion gallons of water held in the lake all comes from snowmelt and rain. The Lake has no outlets.

Mirror images and reflections have captivated artists and photographers for 150 years.

Sadly for us the rim drive was closed.

The visitor center and shops were only opened a few days before our visit.

The surface of the lake and reflected clouds.

Peace…Wanderers in Wonder.
