Poudre River Valley

8/22/2020

We are supposed to be in the Poudre  RiverCanyon. Fire nixed that plan. We are in Colorado National Monument. Upon arrival the other day there was a little smoke over the Book Cliffs. Within an hour smoke was billowing down from the Cliffs into the Colorado River Valley below.

An hour later  flames appeared at the top of the Cliffs. Haven’t seen flames since the Missionary Ridge Fire in Durango years ago. This Pine Gulch fire has surpassed the Missionary Ridge fire and is now the fourth largest in Colorado history and growing. It will probably be number one before too long.

Still enjoying the adventure. We do miss the newspaper and crossword in the morning. Heading North.
