Wanderers in Wonder had another big driving day, 120 miles from Escalante Country to Kanab, UT. Music accompaniment for our peaceful scenic drive Jaymay, Belle of the Fall, First Aid Kit (a Swedish sister duo who performed their tribute song to Emmy Lou Harris at a dinner in Emmy Lou’s honor in Nashville a year or two ago)…the Red Dirt Girl was reduced to tears and Laura Marling whose cover of Dylan’s A Hard Rain’s a-Gonna Fall is really good. 

We will, once again, go through the absurd s… show known as The Wave in person lottery tomorrow AM in Kanab. 

This is The Wave (not my picture) on the AZ – UT border. About fifteen years ago a European tourist took pictures of The Wave and posted them on whatever social media existed in that day…the pics went viral and The Wave was overrun with hikers. Today the BLM issues ten permits each day in an online lottery and another ten in a most ridiculous in person lottery…twenty hikers a day, that is it.
