Greetings from Dinosaur Country…NE Utah.
Took a hike the other day in Fantasy Canyon near Dinosaur National Monument.

These are reminiscent of the Hoodoos at Bryce Canyon or the formations in Goblin Valley. These formations are smaller and much more fragile. Think of how one would make spires and minarets on sand castles at the beach…drizzling wet sand down upon the walls of the castle. A local told us that after a good rain the formations can change pretty significantly. No rain in sight so we will take his word for the time being.

Finally some relief from the smoke. Cocktails and a view from the back porch.
A hike to Steve Earl’s arch, ‘Copperhead Road’…Moonshine Arch.

Scrambled up the wall behind ‘Moonshine’ and found this little wonder.

Dilophosaurus made these tracks. He was an eight foot tall, two legged, two clawed apparently nasty carnivore.

Smoke has resettled into the Vernal Valley. Not sure if it is from CA, CO, UT or WY…what a mess.
Off to the Grand Canyon of UT in the San Raphael Swell. We are hoping the smoke clears. The San Raphael Swell is very picturesque.
Hope this finds you and yours in good health and spirits.
Peace,
