Borax

10/25/2020

Miners tramped through Death Valley in the aftermath of the Civil War looking for gold, silver or any other precious metal. In 1881 some miners realized they were tramping all over Borax. Borax, used in household soaps and laundry detergents, was mined in Death Valley until 1907. Borax was by far the biggest money maker in Death Valley.
