Colonnade Arch (Five Hole Arch)

One and a half hours on a dusty dirt back road and an hour hike, scramble, climb across, up, over and down the slickrock desert just to see these.

Looking east from in front of the arch. That is Labyrinth Canyon on the Green River. Rafters can hike up to the arch from the river.

‘Five Hole Arch’ renamed ‘Colonnade Arch’ by someone with perhaps more beauty in their soul or maybe just an architect type.

We are headed to Escalante Country tomorrow, more slot canyons, arches natural bridges. Then it is on to Kanab and another attempt to win the BLM lottery for permits to hike to ‘The Wave’.

After that it is Death Valley National Park and Joshua Tree National Monument. At Joshua Tree we will have our first overnight guest. Our dear friend Sue drive in from Culver City.
